| 'A
Bit of News'; Catalogue No.25: A wonderfully human assemblage of interesting subjects here. Taken in Cliff Street, Robin Hood's Bay. The village at this time was a tightly knit fishing community where retired mariners could live out the rest of their lives in an environment still ruled by the sea. In this photograph, circa 1884, Harrison Alison, reputed to have been the only literate member of the group, is reading to Tommy Baxter, Mary Emmerson who lived at the Almshouses and Lumar William Storr.
